I'm using the last release of DSL on a Compaq Presario 1200 laptop. I can boot from cd and the desktop loads ok, but the mouse (touchpad) does not work. I can se only the mouse arrow at the botton fo the screen, if I move my finger in the touchpad the workspaces is being to change. Only the right button works, but I can't move trough the menu.
I think the problem will be fixed editing the configuration of the X, but I can find the file.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Greetings from Ecuador - South America. Nope.. I also have a presario 1200..
Here were my only choices..
1. You could use a serial mouse.. ( even the ps/2 port on the rear wouldn't work with an external )
2. You can install xfree86.dsl ( If you need a working XF86Config file, just ask )
For some reason, this particular synaptics touchpad just doesn't work with the KDrive servers..
My compaq runs happily now..

How can I install xfree86.dsl from command line? I've internet connection. Can you show me a link to follow and install the package ?
Regards,Can you get the touchpad to work via the gpm system?
If possible, you could then set up gpm in "repeater mode" and get it to work with the kdrive servers.
