Other Help Topics :: Can't start from live-cd
Yes, if you have this problem toram and tohd won't work since that only copies the image to another location (before loading it).
Are you just booting straight from the livecd? (no bootfloppy, etc.)
Is this drive connected by standard IDE?
I'm booting straight from the CD and the drive is connected by an ATA100 (or is it ATA133?) cable.
Maybe some info on my system would help a bit:
MB: ASUS P5B-VM AiLifestyle Series (Micro-ATX)
CPU: Core2Duo E6300
RAM: 2GB Corsair XMS PC2-6400
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint T133 HD401LJ (400GB SATA300)
ODD: NEC ND 3520A (DVD burner)
GFX: MSI 7600GT PCI-E
Try noscsi option. Those SATA drives may be your issue.
Okay.
Now I tried "dsl noscsi", "lowram", "failsafe" again, "dsl noapic". But it still doesn't work...
So I tried some other live-cds: Knoppix, PC Linux OS and Simply MEPIS.
The only one working was PC Linux OS.
Knoppix came up with the same error message as DSL - even after some different boot options.
Simply MEPIS offered me no boot options and went straight into "Can't find filesystem. Halting."
This is really annoying!
I'm by no means an expert here, but my next step would be to try the CD in a different PC. Same problem suggests a faulty CD, different or no problem suggests your hardware causes it.
Then (if it's your hardware) try Knoppix to diagnose further.
