Other Help Topics :: offline software installation

I have dsl on a laptop without an internet connection. I want to install some software on it (above all, latex and lyx). The only way to get data to the laptop is, by burning a cd with packages and copying it from there. How do i install my software (especially latex) that way?
Thanks!

The myDSL browser has an option "install local", click it,
then just browse to your cd and doubleclick the extension to be installed...

Thank you!
Does anyone know, where i find a tar.gz of latex?

other question: Is there a binary .tar.gz of dpkg?
Use the .unc or .dsl
