Other Help Topics :: Installing dhcpcd

I tried to install the dhcpcd package, in order to attempt internet connection (with my provider dhcpcd is the only program that actually works, don't ask me why, i find it illogical myself). But the dhcpcd program has a conflict with installed "dhcp client" on which in turn other software depends. What would happen, if i tried a forced install?
Thanks!

Did you run netcardconfig before trying to install dhcpd? It lets you broadcast DHCP.
netcardconfig fails with a timeout, just as i expected.
Why did you expect to timeout, and what's your dmesg output regarding your NIC, etc.?
Sorry for bumping this since there's been no reply to my last question. I also want to know which version of dhcpd you added and if you went back through the symlinks and conf files to make sure everything lined up. I'm still curious why pump won't work for your ISP -- and how they'd know the difference.
