Other Help Topics :: A tiny little problem...

Please, someone help me with this..
I was trying to get my internet back up(it has oddness with DSL :/), and i have a mouse that refuses to click most of the time(i hear rattling inside o_o), So often to get a Right click menu i have to click.. a LOT..
And somehow i middle clicked on an Icon on the desktop and the whole computer froze.
When i restarted i was greeted with this little message
Quote

Running from HD, checking filesystems...
Activating swap...
/etc/init.d/checkroot.sh: line 23: /etc/fstab: Input/output error

And it just stays there..
Not doing anything, i can type letters and they appear, Unix commands dont work.(and pressing the errors bring up odd signs(left arrow brings ^[[C))

Please, tell me i wont have to reinstall DSL.. :(
I'd lose all my files, and i have some files i'd hate to rewrite..

I'm not familiar with that error, but you mentioned that you had some important files you wanted to save. Have you considered rescuing them with a LiveCD? Such as DSL? You can load the DSL CD into your drive, boot off of that, mount your hard drive, and copy your important files to floppy, USB stick, or over the network.

You did not mention if you installed frugal install or HD install. It sounds like HD, but you should mention explicitly.
