Other Help Topics :: relationship to new Debian

Since a new Debian just came out. Is it a good idea to wait for the next release of DSL? This assumes that it will have software based on the latest debian release.

DSL is not directly based on Debian. It's sort of a grandchild or great-grandchild. Also, as far as I know, ongoing development has been unrelated to that of DSL's ancestors.
