Other Help Topics :: I can't load anything from cd or floppy...

when I played a music cd, the cdrom in the mount tool was  "unmounted".

Music CDs aren't mounted. Data CDs are, so long as you have support for the filesystem which the data are written.

What kind of CD? Who burned the CD? Was it multi-session? How long has it been since that drive was cleaned?

I don't know what filesystem the data was written in.. I burned the cd using RecordNow on WindowsXP. Am I supposed to use something that burns it so that linux can read the files?.. or something?..

All I know about what kind of cd it is is that it's a cd-r that I burned as a data cd in RecordNow. From what I just read about single session cds and multi-session cds.. I think it's a single session cd, 'cause I can't write anything else to it now. And I'm not sure what you mean by "How long has it been since that drive was cleaned?".. I don't know anything about cleaning drives..

The default mount point is /mnt/auto/cdrom, not /cdrom... Check there...
Thanks, :) I'll try that.
Cool, I tried goin' there and I got to the files on the cd.. but I couldn't install anything. I have gaim.deb, audacity.package, and wine.deb.. I thought I had to get the debian files to use'em on DSL? What kinda files am I supposed to get? 'Cause .deb doesn't work.. and .package wouldn't work either.
