Other Help Topics :: corresponding knoppix version
I grabbed Knoppix 3.3 from somewhere because I read where the latest DSL is based on 3.3. I have a module I need to compile and figured it would be easier to just compile it on Knoppix and move it over to DSL, since Knoppix has a working dev environment.
However, when I moved the file over I compiled on Knoppix 3.3, I learned that it won't run because it was compiled under kernel 2.4.24 and DSL is only at 2.4.22.
Any suggestions on which Knoppix version actually corresponds to the current DSL version, and where to get it? Also, for what it is worth, it would be handy if the exact Knoppix ISO that DSL was mastered from was made available for download. It is hard to find old versions of Knoppix.
Thanks
Brian
There are many KNOPPIX 3.3, just as there are already three versions of V3.4. To answer your question, DSL 0.7.x is based on v3.3 2003-09-24 version of Knoppix. Knoppix uses dates instead of V3.3.1 or 3.3.2.
Thanks,
I was able to locate the version you mentioned. It was difficult though because most mirrors only keep the latest and greatest. At the same time, having the corresponding Knoppix version on hand can be very useful at times, IMHO... so you can bet I'll keep the ISO in a safe place.
Well
Awww, you not going to keep the location SECRET, are you ?
Where DID you find such a gem...

Well alright, here's the tip of the day
The original file name for the ISO DSL is based on is
KNOPPIX_V3.3-2003-09-24-EN.iso
Once you know that, google will help you find an FTP mirror.
