First off:

Will DSL run on Mac hardware? I tried booting off the cd; it didn't work.

Secondly:

Configuring DSL linux to receive internet over Ethernet. I tried with the utility, but couldn't get it to work.

No it won't; not on powerpc that is, it might on those intel-macs..

No, not without virtualization from within MacOS. DSL is i386-based.
