Other Help Topics :: Add stuff to the CD.

Hi!

I read that some people add additional stuff to their DSL-CDs. I would like to add some things (like the firefoxpack and some other stuff) to a 185 meg CD. I always use DSL in "toram" mode when i run it from CD in order to be able to access the cdrom.

So instead of switching CD i would like to have some of my favorie stuff on the DSL-CD itself, but when i try to burn the ISO like a multisession, and then afterwards try to add my own stuff to the CD, the damn cd just wont boot!

Anyone got a clue? Some knob or button in K3b? I got no idea.

Take care,
Björn

Come on, it cant be true, can it? I mean, that nobody has ANYTHING to say about this topic?

Is'nt there anybody out there that added their tarballs to the same cd as DSL?
Im very curious to hear about how that was done, if someone has the time to tell.

Take care,
Björn.

I would like to do this, too but I have not taken the time to try it out.

My guess is that you are the first one to actually try and do this.

I would try and search Google for "Multisession" and "Bootable" and see if there is any knowledge required to make both of these attributues possible on the same CD-R.  Let us know here how it goes.

Good Luck.

Do you mean creating a whole new .iso image?  Search for "remastering" on this forum.  Also, knoppix has a pretty good guide on remastering. :)

I usually add a directory of pdf files to dsl (instant live ebooks) :)

I'm not sure what problems you are having burning multisession - but here's how I do it.

1)Using k3b select Dsl iso then click on the advanced tab and select multisession.

2)Burn CD... then;

3)Using the "k3b drive and directory tree" select the drive with your newly burnt dsl... then;

4) Select the /KNOPPIX directory and right click

5) Pick new project and add whatever files (or directories)you need.

6) Before you burn - make sure you tick the continue multisession cd option

7) after you've burnt and booted your CD - the files will be located in the /cdrom/KNOPPIX directory.

I hope this helps (or makes sense) because its after 1:00am and my brain went to sleep an hour ago z8^)

Cheers
