Ok, I have just tried Peters suggestion and it does NOT work. Still no virtual Terminals.

Then Mr Nosebleed comes up with the startx in .bash_profile.  I can't find any .bash_profile in my DSL system.
I might have deleted it... :O

Still no virtual terminals up here... :(

I'll dive into that .bash_profile stuff on a Knoppix CD and copy it to my private-DSL distro.
