Other Help Topics :: Installing HSP modems in Damn Small

I know that winmodems are bad, but I don't have how to spend $100 on a modem.    I want to config Winmodems (HSP) on Damn Small Linux

How do I configure them on Damn Small Linux? I've done configuring but this was a while ago, and on a full distro (Slackware) with gcc and others.
