Other Help Topics :: Install to CF card

:) I'd like to know if the DSL can work with the Video for Linux, based in BT878 video capture card? or I will have to expand the DSL and rebuild it ?
Have someone ever had some experience with video capture and DSL?

Paulo, this is probably not the best place to post but, I think the video capture card should be supported in the kernel. You just need to find a viewing program, this may be limited however by the Xserver that DSL uses. I think theres a fluxbox docking app and theres even a program you can run on the command line (ie not running any graphic environments).

Unfortunately I'm still a bit of a newb to Linux, I'm sure there are other people out there who can help you further.:;):

Hi there,

I am trying to install DSL on a CF medium (/dev/hdc1), searching the forums I found "frugal". Ok, but the problem is frugal wants my CF to be primary-master (hda)?

Can anybody tell me please, if there is a way to install it on hdc (no, there is no way to install the CF on the primary channel...) ? why is this limitiation to hda?

Besides, is there any documentation out there for frugal? anybody knowing another way to install on CF??

thanks a lot & please excuse my poor english

daniel

I too am needing to install dsl to CF card which is not primary master.

My system sees the CF card as /dev/sda1 and am not sure how to make this a primary master - I am using a compaq presario desktop and have a USB CF reader.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Alot depends on the hosting device/bus for the compact flash. If you plug a CF into pcmcia card then you need to get a pcmcia boot floppy. This has been done and works. It was posted about (search fourms) . If your CF is hosted by USB, I would try the usb boot floppy and try that. Follow the instructions as if it were a pen drive and try. Since, I don't have access to such device. I can only give you some ideas to try.

Good Luck.
