thanksThere is an hplip extension posted in testing that you could try - it works for HP OfficeJet G85 and OfficeJet K80 all-in-one printers, both via cups and by using hp- commands from a terminal window. thanks juanito by your atention..
i begin to set up a printer hp designjet 3745 usb port but in the point 11(of info file hplip.tar.gz), test printing , there is a mesage error of type "/opt/hplip/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip" below the name of the printer in the cups web page, a few seconds after the icon of the printer is green and ok...
the printer before works ok during the month of free license of cups comercial program...If you enter the following in a terminal window, is your printer seen?
I saw a few foomatic errors when I forgot to copy sigtrap.pm to usr/lib/perl/5.8.0. The other thing you could try is to set the log level to debug in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, "sudo /opt/hplip/etc/init.d/cups restart" and have a look at /var/log/cups/error_log for lines that start with "E ["
Edit: As per the supported devices list it looks like Designjets are not supported by hplip. The cups part of the extension might work though...sorry is deskjet 3745 with comercial cups works with the ppd driver?? 3740 ...
the juanito cups find two printers
1 deskjet 3745 etc usb etc
2 desjet 3745 "long uri"
i make the next point with ppd of desjet 3740
and in both cases 1 and 2 the printers is loaded by cups i can see preview page ,configure page etc but when i print, the icon of printer goes of green to yelow and done below the error mesage :
"/opt/hplip/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed"
the bash command to test is too much for me.. i will send a new license to comercial cups to observe files and config...
