Printers :: HP Deskjet 3420

My printer model is HP Deskjet 3420 with a USB connection. I found the .PPD file for my model of printer, now what do I do with it to make my printer work?

I tried apsfilter, didn't support my model, nor could I find a place to tell it the .PPD file.

Is there some hidden basket that I am not shooting for?
