Apps :: UCI APPS Questions
1) What are UCI apps and are they different from DSL apps? Are they stored any diffrently?
2) What is the linux equivalant for Quicken? Is it on DSL?
Thanks for your help!
UCI are self contained applications that have been compressed (cloop) similarly to DSL itself. LIke DSL they are read only and mounted. By convention they are mounted on /opt directory. They can be stored right along other dsl extensions. They load and autoload in a similar manner using similar tools. Except they are mounted. By mounting them and using /opt they use a minimal amount of resources. At shutdown they just like DSL itself are unmounted. They have only one unique tool and that is the UCI Tool to manually umount them without knowning their particulars.
Regular .dsl extensions are like traditional tarballs that require a mostly writeable filesystem. They unpack files in a traditional way over the filesystem.
HI Roberts,
Thank you for the help with UCI apps.
Any help on the Quicken in linux appp?
Maybe GNUcash?
Will GNUcash run on DSL? I did not see it in the mydsl panel. I am very new to DSL and linux.
Thanks
