Apps :: gaim + msn account

Hello,

i use gaim to chat with friends,
now i will chat over MSN,
i have an MSN account,
i have gaim (v0.58),
i have loaded the libMSN (under plugins in gaim),
i have configured the login-informations and now i will sign on an
become this error:
Protocoll not supported

What can i do to use gaim for MSN?

here is the fun fact:
msn protocol doesnt work since u can only download version 0.58 with apt-get, which is 3.5 years old, msn protocol has changed since then
i dont think that it could be installed easily, as dsl doesnt have gtk2.0 distributed, if anybody cant sort this out pls post it here
i couldnt find any other chat program for dsl that worked, amsn doesnt even start if i click on its icon

u can have gtk2 in dsl
i just installed the os today and am still experiencing with it

Finally i figured out.
as it took me an hour to find out other new dsl users might be interested as well:
in mydsl gtk2 install gtk2 and then gtk2 gaim, and now it should work
