Apps :: Alternatives to CDW CD burning program

See list.txt for a master list, and search for things like "burn" etc.

If you mean changing your DE to KDE, you don't have to (I don't even think there's an extension for it), but you'll need to run the kde backend in order to use k3b (incl. in package afaik). As always, please read the .info before doing anything else...

I'd have to type in all of the little options and the long file names manually every time I need to do something

Your next Google search: linux man alias

If you're using DSL4+, write a shell wrapper to handle commands for drag and drop (such as for burning ISOs). If you want to use CLI, rely on your .bash_history (up arrow, down arrow) and change file names using autocompletion as necessary.

I did a Google search, and there is no gcombust MyDSL extension

Is there ANY way I can run K3B without KDE?

Yes, use the MyDSL extension. But it still uses the hefty libraries KDE uses -- that extension is about the same size as DSL and DSL already can do what K3B does.

Unfortunately, DSL is short on CD burning applications, so I feel stuck.

DSL has plenty of tools. You just need to take the time to learn how to use them. :-)

I agree that DSL is not lacking in cd burning, but there is also a gtoaster extension in the Multimedia section if you want a graphical front end that is not  heavy.
Bashburn doesn't really need a mydsl ext - it has an OK installer in itself, and doesn't need anything more than itself.
I do have an Xcdroast .dsl with the patch to support the latest cdrtools that is now in DSL if anyone would like to try it.  I like Xcdroast among the medium weight cd apps, since it is the first one I used.
