Apps :: .DSL files??
hi there, I downloaded a couple .DSL files from Apps directory on a ftp mirror.. Its GCC.. how do I go about installing this DSL package file??
I also wanted to note, that I don't use X-windows.. so emelfm doesn't work.. any way to install the .DSL apps through the console???
Try typing
mydsl-load *name_of_file*
I am totally confused as to how to install GCC. I downloaded it to /tmp but i try opening it and it tells me /var/tmp/mydsl.icons does not exist, /home/dsl/.xtdesktop is not mounted, and /var/tmp/mdsl.icons does not exist. I am new to linux and I do not know how to fix this.
mydsl-load seems smart enough to check that you are not using Xwindows (xvesa+fluxbox) and does not try to create a fluxbox menu item for your application.
however it seems to call mydsl-install which does not do the same display check, so it tries to update the icon file for xwindows which probably dont exist.
You could try running xwindows and then shut it down. It may create the default files that the script is looking for, or you could try ignoring the errors since they only relate to x-windows destop
