Okay, I just put dsl on my computer and I am trying to install python-2.4, but I keep getting a gcc error. reading many post on getting gcc to work led me to gcc1.dsl. So I downloaded that and opened up a terminal and typed:
Code Sample
dsl@box:~$ mydsl-load gcc1.dsl tar: Invalid tar magic
what does tar: Invalid tar magic mean? Any ideas on what to do?I also tried:
Code Sample
dsl@box:~$ sudo mydsl-load gcc1.dsl You must be logged in as user "dsl" to install a myDSL extension.
Thinking that maybe it was a permission problem, but nope! You could try opening Emelfm (apps->tools->Emelfm), navigating to the gcc1.dsl file and clicking the 'mydsl' button.just gave that a try im still getting:
Code Sample
tar: Invalid tar magic
I am not completely sure. I believe that linux sometimes uses a few magic bytes to identify file types, maybe one somehow got damaged. You could try checking the md5sum. You might try just deleting it, and downloading it again and trying. Sorry I cant offer you more.Next Page...
