Apps :: Powerpoint Viewer

Hello,

I have been trying to use the "pptview.sh" script with ppthtml and dillo to view a basic Powerpoint presentation with several slides.  If the presentation is saved as Powerpoint 95 or Powerpoint 97, it displays a blank page.  If the file is saved as Powerpoint 2000, it displays the text from the slides as a scrolling text file.  Am I doing something wrong here?

I doubt it.

ppthtml is a very basic ppt converter.  I am sure that it chokes early and often on some PowerPoint functions.

Usually these converters will choke on the newer file formats and do a better job on the older ones, so your situation is unusual.

The scrolling text file is what it's supposed to do.

I guess since pp2000 is the most common format, that it's very likely the only supported format for the pp2html script.

If you are wanting actual presentation software, grab openoffice from the repository.

We really need a MagicPoint extension~

I agree.

Magicpoint is PERFECT for DSL.

Smaller and lighter than OO.

Once upon a time I tried to build a Magicpoint extension but I didn't get very far for some reason.  I forget why.

ppthtml just makes a list of plain text?  Isn't it supposed to at least look like the slides would if displayed in html?

Can MagicPoint read a Powerpoint PPT file?  I am stuck having to display files that were sent in PPT format, and that is not going to change any time soon.
