water cooler :: thin client linux

any1 know of a thin client type linux OS, i want a very basic (i.e. just filesystem and a java virtual machine) linux OS so i can load single java applications to work on some old laptops that are intergrated into items!

basic linux os that works on 12mb or even 8mb os that uses a Java Virtual Machine? - im even thinking ive got the summer infront of me now so could even write my own mimix - woo hoo filesystems :P

look up ltsp - Linux Terminal Server Project. I think they have some sample OS images for use as thin clients. Or I'm completely off my rocker.
