water cooler :: Linux Router
Hey,
I just want the opinion of like minded folk on the best linux router/firewall/"server".
I have used Freesco, and I strongly suggest it to anyone who wants a simple effective and effiecent linux router. It is floppy based and can install onto a fat32 partition. one thing is though, it isnt realy that good for hosting even small web sites.
Im currently using ClarkConnect, which I think is fairly good. It is basicly RH9 cut down and spiffied up(or down in others opinions) a little. Which suits me somewhat nice because im fairly in the know about RH.
Although Im still looking for an alternative, Ive been thinking Debian but moving from one os to another is a little daunting after hearing Debian is a whole new ball game when it comes to linux.
Help me out with some healthy discussion please
I'm using FreeSCO but my friend miss the wireless drivers (ZCOM XI-626,Prism 2.5 chip) so DSL has the router place :-)
We're using Smoothwall2.0 here on an old P200 as a firewall and it all appears to work nicely.
I think i tried smoothwall once.. I dont remember why I didnt like it.. Ill give it another try.
I need a os that is easily setup with MySQL and of course Apache.
Give M0n0wall a try. It is awesome IMHO
