water cooler :: gtk1.x vs gtk2

As a user who covets speedy apps it is very frustrating to watch so many excellent apps slow down as they make a transition to gtk2.

wow. According to that, GTK+-2 makes things almost twice as big/slow. Another reason to buy a faster processor I guess.
