water cooler :: Best Linux Mag?

I'd second the vote for "Linux Format".  While visiting Ohio a couple months ago and away from my computer, I picked up a couple copies of this magazine.  It was the most readable and informative of all the LInux magazines I saw.  The attached DVD has a ton of software as well.

But at $15US an issue, it' ain't cheap (it's a British mag), and if you have a fast internet connection, you can get just about everything on the CD on your own including the new distros.  There's a ton of good info on the 'net if you know how to google ;)

I'd say get the mag if you want something worthwhile to read away from the computer, but if the price seems too steep, you'll find alot of that info and software for free on the net.

Oh, and one more thing...

All the on-line mags that were listed before (NewsForge, Linux Today, DistroWatch, etc.) also have RSS feeds, so if you set up an RSS aggregator you're basically creating your own custom magazine.  If you're using FireFox, you can put the RSS feeds into "live bookmarks" at the top of the window (that's what I've done to mine).

..do tell us more about setting up an rss aggregator for firefox !

I don't know if it's truely an "aggregator", but you can put "live bookmarks" in the "bookmarks toolbar folder".  This has been available since at least FF 1.0.3.  I didn't used to bother with it, but now I'm addicted:  I've got BBC News, NewsForge, Linux Today, Distro Watch, Knoppix Forum and live surf forecasts for Hawaii (heh, I'm a surfer, there -is- life after linux ;)  ).  It's totally cool...
