I was just looking at slashdot - they're talking about the solid state drives

In another year or so I predict we'll walk around with a bootable disk AND our data on a keychain, thus making computers neutral, diskless devices that anyone can walk up to and use. And they'll boot up instantly.
Well, except for "boot up instantly" that pretty much sums up DSL doesn't it :-)
Oh and of course, someone replies that the average /. user will need more space than can fit on a keychain. But if you need that, you can get a laptop drive enclosure that runs off usb power and they hold up to what 80gb?Thats an interesting thought. Solid state devices just keep getting bigger and more common. Also, I really believe DSL is ahead of it's time with many of its features. I am really looking forward to the future. You could do that or just have your home PC setup with DSL running ftp and grab files when you need them or store them where you need them.
