water cooler :: Linux Graphics
IMO: Inkscape is one of the most greatest graphic design tools ever made.
DWG support is only thing I would like to have there...
BTW. Does anyone know if Inkscape have image slices exporting support. It would be nice to design few web layouts... I've used Fireworks + Dreamweaver before... But I don't want to wine. ;)
Actually, version 0.44 of inkscape shipped recently, and contains several important new features and bug fixes.
monkeymind,
did you successfully install inkscape 0.42 into DSL?
if so did you do this via apt, but pointing at standard debian sources?
I'm reluctant to do this after bad experiences on DSL - i.e. updating sources.list, installing something that had tons of dependencies, then rebooting and finding that everything was screwed!
Simililarly, have you attempted installing Blender 2.42 on DSL?
Thanks
Installing blender into DSL is basically just a matter of downloading the static version and extracting it somewhere. There may be issues with python plugins (i couldn't get the python mydsl package working with blender 2.41...earlier blender versions worked), but the program itself should run without trouble.
If you want to use the dynamic build you'll need to install XFree
Inkscape can be very handy.
