myDSL Extensions (deprecated) :: Firefox 1.4 dsl bug
Hi the firefox 1.4 file in downloads wont actually launch firefox 1.4 unless I also load the 1.0PR - launch this, close it and then launch the 1.4
what's the easiest way to get the 1.4 firefox on dsl ?
You actually need to install the gtk2.dsl file to run the latest FF. Please make sure you read the info file for each extension before installing it to learn about any dependencies.
Chris
firefox-1.0.4.tar.gz or .uci requires the gtk2.dsl
to be installed and executed first.
See this .info file for more details..
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub.....4.info
The firefox 1.0PR has gtk2 in it.
Your simply substituting it for gtk2.dsl
Please use the gtk2.dsl with firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.*

Sorry I should have been clearer I have run this first.
Run GTk2.dsl, then try and run firefox-gtk2-1.04.dsl (DSL goes on fine icon appears but double clicking icon does nothing)
then run the firefox 1.0PR dsl and launch firefox, close firefox then run 1.4 again and it runs so I'm guessing either i'm alone with this problem or there's something missing from either the gtk2.mydsl (other gtk2 stuff runs ok without adding firefox 1.0pr) or the firefox-gtk2-1.04.dsl is missing something.
The gtk2.dsl has to be both loaded and run from menu before attempting
to run the firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.tar.gz or firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.uci
( I didn't see a firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.dsl , as you listed in your earlier post. )
Again, running the firefox-1.0PR does the same thing as running gtk2.dsl.
I will remove the firefox-1.0PR from the repository to diminish confusion.
1. Load the gtk2.dsl ( wait for icons/desktop to flash )
(I use mydsl button in emelfm, or command "mydsl-load gtk2.dsl" in a shell)
2. Rt click on desktop to open menu, select myDSL, select "Update to GTK2"
( no screen flashes here, but look for cpu monitor to return to near zero after several seconds...)
3. Now load either the firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.tar.gz or .uci versions.
( same method we did the gtk2.dsl at first )
4. Try new firefox icon, or rt. click to menu, > myDSL > Firefox-gtk2-1.0.4
I just tested both versions from a pristine LiveCD boot,
and they are working fine for me.
What kind of DSL install are you using for this?
