myDSL Extensions (deprecated) :: installing .dsl files

After getting files from mydsl list putting them in opt folder, clicking them puts them in mydsl pulldown but apps wont launch. Is this normal.
Depends on the application.  If it's a gtk2 app, for example, you will first need to install the gtk2 extension and run the setup script.  If it is something that requires OpenGL, you'll need to install XFree86.

Read the info file associated with each extension you download to see if there are any special requirements.

I need to be root user?
Generally it's a bad idea to install mydsl apps as root, since it will change ownership of some of your personal files (like the menu, for example).  I've never used the gtk2 extension, so i don't know if the gtk2 setup needs to be run as root.  I'd try it as dsl first just to be sure.
There should be a menu entry to install gtk2 when you install the gtk2 extension. Always make sure you read the info file for each extension before you install.
