!!SOLVED!! the problem, I had been hoping so much to use the SanDisk that I had been only trying the other pendrives after i had messed with the Sandisk. Once i removed the Sandisk from the equation the Lexar and the PNY work perfectly with DSL. So, guess that Sandisk mini cruzer is a windoze only pos and I'll likely try to swap it to a windoze usr for something more useful to me. Thanks for reading my post, but for now the mystery seems solved.
Rob
BioStar N7NCD-PRO/nvidia-NForce2 XP2600cpu 1GBddr 80gbWesternDighdd on 3 different pendrives sizes and brands DSL sometimes finds them sometimes doesnt, sometimes mounts them when found sometimes doesnt, and never not once let me use one of them to restore myDSL apps nor the backup.tar.gz file using the
Code Sample
dsl restore=sda1 mydsl=sda1 toram
options. On those few occasions when i could get it to mount a pendrive from the destkop I was able to create a backup to the pendrive(s) and was able to save the myDSL extensions to the drives as well, and I had kept them on the root of the drive, indeed i even formatted one drive so that it had no tree at all just wide open space. From the desktop *if* the pendrive is found, and then is mountable i can restore the backup.tar.gz. This kinda sux as I had hoped my wife could take her data with her as she flits from computer to computer with her School, her Job, and her Real Life(us her family) that said she is still not able to take full advantage of dsl viz. the only place she can really use it is at home
For now I have her setup with restore at hda5 mydsl at hda5/dsl and that works for this machine.
Anyway thats the good bad and the ugly, still i found some satifaction in at least having it setup so that her favorites and email here at home are saved and that I don't have to worry about windows virus on this machine any longer since she can use:
Code Sample
dsl mydsl=hda5/dsl restore=hda5 toram dma
and she's up and running from liveCD.
Any help to get this working with either a SanDisk cruzer mini 512mb USB stick, or a Lexar Media 128mb Jumpdrive USB stick, or a PNY technology's 256mb Attache USB stick would be most appreciated, thanks for reading my post.
