USB booting :: Installing eciadsl

Complete noob to linux so please talk to me like i'm a 5 year old so I completly understand, And I'm not joking I need it explained simply.

OK here goes I downloaded dsl burnt it to cd installed it to my 128mb usb pen drive, It works fine and looks intresting.

I want to learn linux and thought this would be an ideal choice to do it.

I know nothing about linux apart from what I can manage to gleam from the net, I have a BT Voyager 100 Modem so I searched and found ECIadsl supports this modem, So I downloaded eciadsl to a floppy disc and booted up to usb dsl and tried to install it.

Thats where i'm stuck, I found my floppy and the eciadsl on it but when I try to install it, It wont install.

I tried su command and went to root with the password but it just won't install I realised I could'nt see my floppy till I nounted it and I'm now going round in circles juse not understanding how to install this program.

If someone could explain as simply as possible how I need to move on from here I would be most grateful.
