USB booting :: computer a a stick

I like to make a bootable DSL USB to do something similiar to the "computer on a stick". Please advise.

Next, how about making a "bootable DSL USB" as a Personal Entertainment Device (PED) or Personal Multimedia Device (PMD).
i.e. plug in, boot up and be able to watch video, play mp3, VOIP, and ebook.
