USB booting :: Pen Drive DSL & HP Tc1100 Keyboard Issues

I am a relative newbie when it comes to Linux. However, I have managed to succesfully install DSL to my SanDisk Cruzer 512 Mini USB pen drive. When I try booting from the Pen Drive on a HP Tc1100 Tablet with 1G ram, DSL will boot from the USB pen drive.

However, the keyboard will not work. The onboard pointer in the middle of the keyboard DOES work so I can move the cursor, point and click, and so forth. However, any key board entry will not work.

Running kbdconfig from the desktop doesn't help. It will launch but, it requires keyboard input to monkey around with the settings. I did discover if, after booting DSL, I plug in an external USB keyboard, the external keyboard will work -- however, lugging an external keyboard around sorta defeats the purpose of having the tablet!

I have tried booting the pen drive on my desktop computer and DSL booted o.K. and the keyboard was fine. Thus, it appears that the problem is idosyncratic with the tc1100 -- any idea how I can convince DSL to cooperate with the tc1100's keyboard?

Thanks!
