USB booting :: Sandisk Cruzer Micro 512 MB Pendrive

I am having no end of trouble getting this USB booting thing to work.  Don't misunderstand, I'm thrilled that DSL is here and basically works well, but my frustration is beginning to build.

Is the Sandisk Cruzer Micro drive suitable for use with DSL 2.3?  After repeated attempts I cannot seem to get the usb install to complete satisfactorily.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

yes it is perfect for dsl.....i have used both a 256mg cruzer, and 1 gb sandisk mp3 player to boot DSL.

I installed from within DSL...
I found that telling it to pull the files from the live cd caused no end of problems, so I went into firefox and downloaded the iso again onto the desktop (goes there by default)

then when i installed I toles it to take the image from file, and pointed it to /ramdisk/home/dsl/dsl-2.3.iso (make sure you put the right iso file name here) then everything went just fine...

an by the way, people could probably help a bit more if you posted whatever error messages come up ;)

Yes, it does work - I'm also using the cruzer 256 MB stick.

Are you doing the USB-ZIP install? And does your BIOS support USB-ZIP booting?

I believe the USB-HDD install also works, but is not supported by my BIOS (EPIA 5000) so can't confirm it.

The USB-ZIP install / boot seems to be fairly bullet proof if the BIOS supports it. Try that first!

Yep it works!

Maybe your problem is with your BIOS? Have you tried to boot the USB in any other computer? Or with a USB_boot floppy?

If it works in another machine you should update your BIOS...
