USB booting :: Where did I go wrong?

I found the following FAQ and followed the instructions.

How Do I Install to a USB Pendrive?

First, boot up your computer from the DSL livecd, frugal, or USB-frugal. Note that it is not possible to do a USB install, or any other kind of install from a DSL Embedded system.

In the Fluxbox menu, go Apps >> Tools >> Install to USB Pendrive and choose either USB-ZIP emulation or USB-HDD emulation, depending on what is supported by your computer's bios.

Did I have to do anything else? When I try to boot from the pendrive, my system says "This is not a bootable disk. Please insert bootable floppy and try again". I have used USB-HDD emulation; my computer is an HP XW600. :(

You should make your USB drive bootable. You can either do this by using the "HP USB formatting tool" for windows. It will format your drive, and make ik bootable. Then return to your DSL LiveCD, and install the usb drive as you did before.

You could also try to make the usb drive bootable via DSL. Use the 'fdisk' tool for this. fdisk /dev/sda (or whereever your usb drive is), use 'a' to toggle a bootable flag, select the right partition (number 1) en use 'w' to write.

It should work like this :)
