Boot with the cdrom or floppy+cdrom. Use either the USB-HDD or USB-ZIP utilities that come with DSL on the cdrom. They will format the drive properly (with a 2G limit).Already tried this and found that the usb stick is unbootable.
Regards,I had the same sort of problems with a 1GB stick and DSL-L - you could partition the drive into several partions of, say, +/-512MB. This worked for me.

USB-ZIP formats to boot from a 50mb 1st partition with the rest of the drive on the 2nd partition, so it's probably not a size issue.
