USB booting :: Old Laptop, no USB boot option, but have floppy
I know it may not be the most proper forum to ask this question but I have an old, old HP OmniBook 4100 series laptop with a shot hard drive where win2k resided. I can not bring myself upto buying a new hard disk for $75 and upwards to bring the Pentium II bearing 233Mhz laptop alive. I wanted to boot it to linux (DSL to be precise) and give it to my mom to read her newspapers over the internet with it.
My dilemma is, this POS laptop does not have option of booting off of USB to the best that I know (anyone prove me wrong has my deepest gratitudes). It can boot from a floppy and I have one of those.
My question is : Is there such a contraption with DSL, where you boot to floppy into something line GRUB (or any loader in that sense) and then transfer the control to the DSL loaded on the USB stick ?
All replies are greatly appreciated.
