USB booting :: dsl for usb on windows ME

hi

I'm using windows ME, I have neither floppy disk drive nor a cd burner, so how do i install dsl on my usb? (I'm using a partitioned mp3 player as usb device)
I'm using a Dell Inspirion 4100 btw.

the prob is:
I can't use syslinux cause I use windows ME
I can't boot dsl or another linux distribution as I can't boot any OS but windows ME as I have no cd burner to burn the iso
I can't use virtual PC to emulate a linux because it's not ME compatible

All you need is to extract the dsl-3.2.iso file into your usb stick (not on a directory). Don't burn it, just open it with an archive manager.
Take a look at:
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Boot_Floppies
and you'll find how to create an bootable floppy disk.

Next, all you need is to plug your usb stick and boot your floppy and it will recognize your usb stick.

I think that's all...

thanks a lot, gonna try that! but you do know that i don't have a floppy disk drive on my laptop?
didnt work :(

I downloaded the current.iso, extracted it using isobuster and copied the files to my usb device...

booted and didnt work :(

i can't remember if you can boot to command line in ME (perhaps F5 or something), but if you can, then use loadlin to boot the files.

I would recommend you buy a usb floppy, a lot easier that way.
