USB booting :: help with saving

hi
im running dsl on a sd card but it saves everything in the ram like a live cd
is there a way to install dsl onto a sdcard and use it as though it was a hard drive(so i can save my files and programs)

Have you tried to mount the drive?
Something like
$ mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
