USB booting :: Incomplete boot on H-P XW4100 Workstation

Please be gentle, this is all very new to me.

I have what appears to be a video related problem when booting DSL from a USB pen drive on my office H-P Workstation XW4100. The boot proceeds normally up the point where the desktop (crosshatch pattern) should appear. It then stops dead in its tracks and I'm looking at a totally blank screen. This same pen drive works fine from my Dell computer at home.

Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated!

Try booting with this command:

fb800x600 xsetup

at the boot prompt, and choose xfbdev server.
