USB booting :: It's Possible?...

Hi, i'm trying the DSL ditribution, and it's very very wonderful.

But, it's possible install a DSL on a 128 MB pen in ext fs ?..but not a live distro and not a compressed.

Thanks in advice

PS. i try frugal install, but sda is not supported.

Hi exa_gon!

I really agree with you that DSL is a wonderful distribution. I'm just curious why you want it to be in ext2(?) filesystem. I'm using dsl-embedded on a fat32 formatted usb-drive and it works just fine embedded in either windows or linux and it can be booted directly from the usb-drive as if it were a harddrive. So why ext2(?) filesystem?

Have fun,

Hi meo,
Because i want to configure all my system on time!and when i reboot all configuration is saved on a fs.

....the ext is an a curiosity.

Thanks in advice.

Although you could install to a pendrive like a normal hdd theoretically, you really would not want to, due to the limited number of writes you can do to a sector with flash media.

Your pendrive would keel over and start smoking very quickly.

Hi again!

I use the backup/restore utility to save my settings. I have this file  in the root of my usb-drive and it works like a charm. You can even change the settings so that DSL makes a backup automatically when you shutdown the computer. Does't that sound like something for you exa_gon?

Have fun,
