USB booting :: error using Apps-Tools-Install to USB Pendrive

Greetings all,

I am new to DSL and am getting an error trying to create a bootable USB card using Apps-Tools-Install to USB Pendrive.  I am booting DSL from a CD.  It goes thru the following sequence:

Changing geometry for USB-ZIP compatibility on /dev/sda1
Partitioning /dev/sda1
/dev/sda1:
Formatting /dev/sda12
Formatting /dev/sda11
mkdosfs 2.9 (15 May 2003)
/dev/sda11: No such device or address
Error while formatting DOS filesystem

This is a 128MB CF card that is formatted in windows with FAT32.  I am using a CF to USB adaptor.  Prior to attempting the "Install to USB Pendrive" I can mount sda1 and see any files I have on it.  After the error, on a windows box, it says the CF card is not formatted.  If I do properties on it, it says the file system is "RAW".

Any ideas?

Thanks

hello,
here is what I used:

good luck,

OK... here's how I got it working.  First, when you are prompted to "Enter the device name of pendrive (Example: sda)", enter "sda" NOT "sda1" which is what I was entering.  That allowed the script to run without any errors.  However, it would not boot and had the errors that MikeHunt79 had in this thread:

damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=17;t=5832

So I then tried the USBHDD script as mentioned in that thread.  This worked and I now have DSL booting from the following two computers:

www.viaembedded.com/product/epia_sp_spec.jsp?motherboardId=261

linux.boeldt.net/IA-1_Description.asp

although it is basically useless on the IA-1 because there is not enough horsepower in that machine.
