USB booting :: Installed to USB fine, but won't boot

I booted from the cd, went to apps>install to USB or whatever, and it installed fine (I assume).   I see a FAT filesystem with basically the same files as the bootable cd on there.  I set my motherboard to boot as USB-HDD (same as I told the usb installer) and set that to top priority.   I rebooted the machine and......error.   Invalid system disk.       Any help?   I was using the DSL 1.5 current.iso.
I tried to install to my pendrive and it said that it couldn't find the tool kit.  where do i get the tool kit?  i got the usb hdd install, but don't know how to install it.
