USB booting :: DSL not finding USB drive after boot

I've installed DSL to usb drive (USB-HDD), but Its not finding my usb drive when its booting. therfore, it cannot load the KNOPPIX image at which point it drops down to the "limited" shell.

Are there any scsi modules that need to be loaded?

I got the same problem today.
I made many test but I thinks to solve this one is to add
"root (hd0,0)" to your menu.list.
And check your device.map to confirm the hd number with your hard disk.
