USB booting :: usb problem/dsl 2.0

my problem now is that dsl 2.0 doesn't like my thumb drive. it boots fine from cd. dsl 1.5 works fine from cd & thumb drive. it seems to be a usb problem. when booting from cd, it took a couple of tries for it to see my thumb drive. once it did, the thumb install went without errors.

the error reads

dropping to minimal shell
blah blah blah

Always try EXPERT mode as well. I had the same problem, but EXPERT solved it. Autodetected and stepped through the whole process.

dsl 2.1 rc2 works great. i'm using it as i type this msg. kudos to the dsl team.
