DSL Embedded :: Modify flash Iso
Hello,
[project outline]
I am designing an embeded linux system that must be run without a harddrive. I am using an EPIA-MII10000 LVDS motherboard. I am developing with 256MB of ram and a 1G type 1 compaq flash card setup with a converter to run it as an IDE device. These devices will be in semi trucks, so using a harddrive is not as desirable. Due to the limited number of writes to a flash card, it is desirable to run the OS im RAM.
[Problem]
I have successfully installed a lilo CF install from the LiveCD. I now need to add some things to the ISO that gets loaded into RAM from the CF. I will need to load MySQL, a touchscreen driver, a few libs and and application I am developing. I looked through the forums, but didn't find any posts that address this. I appologize if this is a bit of a basic question, but this is my first experience with an embeded environment. Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
I was reading your post and was thinking why use CF. In the old day OS's were built into ROM chips. ROM used to be cheap and it should be possible for a BIO maker to add in your OS for a price.
