DSL Embedded :: dsl-linux.sh
When trying to open dsl from my usb thumb on a linux computer that is not attached to a network I get the following.
could not get dns address
When I am attached to a network there is no problem opening from my thumb drive. I have tried "nodhcp" in the qemu line and I have tried turning my wireless card off. Niether has any effect. I have searched these forums for a solution with out luck. How should I disable this feature?

I am such a dweeb. The answer was right in front of me. If I would just read things before I delete them.The answer was right here.
qemu-linux-notes.txt
I had been fooling around with a small usb that was in my desk drawer and deleted all the files I thought I would not need. That file was one of them. I started from scratch and this time read it before I deleted and DAMNsmalllinux the answer was there all along.

Well I made another goof. When I posted that I had things working I didn't realize that I was attaching to a wireless network in my neighbor hood. When I got to work I found out that I still get
could not get dns address
Works fine on a windows computer without a network connection, but on a linux box without a network connection, will not work.
Surely someone else has seen this.

I really have no reason to run linux inside of linux, but after reading this I tried it. It worked fine. Network was disconnected.
BTW, it was DSL inside of DSL, cause that's all I got!
Perhaps the cause is from the hosting linux?
Thanks for the reply roberts. I know you are probably on the right track. I have SuSE 10. I have also tried this on a ubuntu box. I think there must be a way to tell qemu that this virtual machine does not need DNS or somehow define it to qemu. I run vmware and the network connection is define inside vmware. I have not tried dsl in vmware, I only use it to run W2K for those apps that I absolutly need windows for. As far as linux inside linux I just use this as a sandbox to try and learn a little more about embedded dsl. I can use it on windows embedded but I just hate windows and don't use it any more than I have to. Work dictates I use it and I can usually find a windows box to plug my thumb into and use dsl.
I'll just keep hackin away and googling around and I will probably find an answer eventually.
