DSL Embedded :: firefox plugin

attempting to upgrade java plugin in dsl-embedded..
when i create the link to the .so file in the /usr/loca/firefox/plugins folder it says read only.
how do I get around this?

create a pluins folder in your .mozilla folder.

I had the same problem, but I got around it by simply giving myself root access, and doing it all through the terminal.
