DSL Embedded :: Samsung Q1
New member here. I have used DSL on an old notebook that was too slow for W95 with some sucess.
Now I have had it boot from a USB pendrive to my Samsung Q1 tablet PC. Without a keyboard it did not set up 100% but it seems functional but choppy running inside Windows XP with Qemu. It even kept the wireless connection.
Any other users tried this PC? Any tips?
Running a fully blown o/s under another one will also be slower. (Using near-native, or full virtualization will be quite different).
The speed wasn't that bad considering the hardware and what was running over on the Windows side. I was pleased that it worked on such a new "oddball" hardware setup. Now I have to get my hands on a USB keyboard so I can set the boot parameters to see if it works booting solo. Unless someone can suggest how to edit the bootloader to automatically use certain settings. Screen resolution and wheelmouse.
You can use the fb/vga bootcodes to change video settings, and xsetup to change X video settings.
For a permanent setup, it depends on what bootloader you are using. If it's syslinux, look in ..../boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg and you can add in your options. If you need to change the X video settings, you can back up the .xserverrc file and use autoloading features to load it (or remaster the dsl image).
