DSL Embedded :: frugal install to IBM 560 laptop harddrive

I am trying todo a frugal install to my IBM 560 laptop, it doesn't have a working cd drive , so I removed the 2 gig . harddrive and installed it in my old desktop computer, I booted the dsl cd to dsl2 and typed in cfdisk got the message fatal error can not open the harddrive, so I booted to normal dsl and looked in system stats, dmesg,acpi disabled because your bios is from 99 and old you can enable it with acpi=force,ide 1at 0x170 -0x177,0x376 on irq 15 I don't know how to copy and paste in dsl .I used the above method to install 98 to this harddrive, I swiped the drive and  it was woeking well with 98.how can I partition the drive to get the frugal install going?I;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

avenger,

try 'sudo cfdisk'

I was testing a very similar IBM laptop with DSL 3.3 &
no problems. However it booted from CD.

Remember that u removed the hard-drive and put it
in your PC. Make sure all the juicy stuff like master &
slave jumpers are set properly on your harddisk.
If no jumpers put the disk on the primary IDE channel
.... good luck

avenger,
I forgot to say most importantly:

mount the drive!

then type 'sudo cfdisk'

see my previous post too ...

I tried the sudo fdisk that didn't work, I only have one drive in this computer I unplugged it and plugged the Ibm drive in
forgot to mention I have an adapter that I use so that I can plug the Ibm drice in
